Bendigo City FC juniors played well on Green Gully’s turf in the latest round of the National Premier League Victoria soccer action.

The Bendigo line-ups achieved two wins, a draw and two defeats in Saturday’s play.

The under-14s had a bye.

In the under-15s, the Aaron Vissers-coached Bendigo celebrated a thrilling 3-2 victory. Oliver Huzzey and Owen Hughes scored early on the way to a 2-1 lead at half-time. Luke Burns increased the margin. Green Gully scored with 10 minutes to play. Bendigo controlled a lot of the play to secure maximum points.

The Richard Graham-coached under-12s continue to match their metropolitan opponents. Another great battle ended in a 3-2 win for Bendigo. Patrick Mathers, Rueben White and Will Keating all beat the defence.

Bendigo’s in-form under-16s drew 1-1 as Owen Turbitt was on target. Ryan Pollard’s squad now sit fourth on the NPL west ladder.  Despite missing Saturday’s clash because of injury, Matthew Sporle continues to lead the NPL west’s under-16 goalscoring on 15.

The under-18s had a tough match as Green Gully won 5-0.

Bendigo City’s under-13s went agonisingly close to securing their first victory for the season. Thomas St Clair and Jacob Creevey struck goals, but Green Gully won 3-2.
