Bendigo City FC is proud to continue evolving our junior development pathways, building on the success of our long standing SAP program and introducing an expanded Development Academy for junior boys and girls in 2026.
Since 2021, Bendigo City FC has delivered a Football Victoria endorsed SAP Skills Acquisition Phase program, supporting young players aged 7 to 12 with high quality technical training to prepare them for JNPL football. SAP has been a key entry point for aspirational players, allowing them to remain with their local community clubs while accessing professional coaching, gala days and tournament opportunities.
In 2026, this pathway continues to grow.
Following significant success and growth in our advanced pathway team programs, Bendigo City FC will launch its 2026 Development Academy in February. This program represents the next step in our junior pathway, supporting both boys and girls as they transition beyond SAP and prepare for higher level football environments.

Expressions of Interest now open
The Development Academy is designed to support local community players with aspirations of playing at an advanced level. The program provides access to high quality, multi coach development sessions once per week on Fridays, delivered within a professional and supportive training environment.
The Academy is overseen by our Technical Director, led by our qualified Heads of Football and delivered by experienced Lead Coaches and Assistant Coaches. Goalkeeper specific coaching is also available.
The initial intake will be for Block 1, a 16 week program running across Terms 1 and 2. The program may also include tournament and friendly matches, providing players with additional game exposure while allowing them to remain registered and playing with their local clubs.
This pathway allows young players to train more, develop faster and gain exposure to advanced football concepts, while still enjoying their community football experience.

Due to forecast extreme heat, our 2026 Development Academy Trials for Under 10 to Under 13 boys and girls have been rescheduled.
